Non-Clinical Photography update – March

Can’t believe it’s March already, the weeks are flying by, and the standard of non-clinical photography is on the rise. I’ve been involved in a few meetings with Lex and Nazia who are leading on sourcing photography for the Annual Report and Quality Accounts this year and collaborating with the design team which is being lead my Mark L and Chets. They will be getting all the photographers involved in the next month or so, so it will be great to see everyone getting involved creating some awesome content! I’ve almost done everyone’s non-clinical 1:1’s and from the feedback I got, many of you want to be more involved with bigger projects, so this is a great opportunity as there isn’t much bigger than this

THOUGHT – When out on non-clinical jobs always have the annual report project in the back of your mind. If you see an opportunity to take some photos there, take some! It would be a great achievement to get the cover shot! It’s going to be a team effort, but I know we can all work together to help the department out, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s involvement

I’ve added some photography taken by Alisdair, he was assigned a job to document a site tour around New Cross for Parliamentary and Health Services Ombudsman Rebecca Hilsenrath. Photos have came out really well and hit the brief, Well done Ali! Another shout out to Lex who shot a few photographs for an internal monthly social event at Walsall called Frika Friday, it’s an event where staff can exchange their ideas. I really like how the use of flash has given a bit more to these standard group shots setting up apart from other departments who like to take photos!

Our standard is defiantly improving throughout our non-clinical photography and I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s work over the next 4 weeks!

Video and Animation

Video update – March

Another busy month for all things video, here are a few key projects that stand out since the last edition of Ci News:

  1. Introduction to Diabetes Transition
Lex and I have work on this over the last month, the job has now been signed off and I will leave a link to anyone who would want to view it. The project is aimed at younger people who are transitioning from having their diabetic appointments in PAU and moving over to the Diabetes Centre located opposite Hollybush House. There will be a link shared to whoever wants to view it. This job has been a success, and we have received an enquiry from a local school that want something similar for their students.

  2. February’s Exceeding Expectation Winner
The Trust’s second winner of the year went to Dr Chieh-Min Lin, who is a consultant in ED. The award was presented by Gwen Nuttall (Chief Operating Officer / Deputy Chief Executive), if you haven’t seen the video be sure to watch it.

  3. Understanding Mohs Micrographic Surgery: A Patient’s Guide
This project is now completed and is now in use for patients to view before they come into surgery. Like I mentioned in last edition of Ci news, Matt and I have been working on this over the last month and the job has been given a lot of good feedback from the Moh’s team. I will share a link for you all to watch!

Animation update - March

This month in animation, I've been developing an updated character rig, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the results! For anyone who doesn’t know, this rig is what I use to animate characters across all of my animation projects. This new version of the rig will drastically reduce animation times and also allow for a much wider range of animations to be created

It offers complete customisation of the character’s clothing, skin tones, and hairstyles, allowing me to create a wide library of diverse characters. Unlike the previous rig, the face can now be fully controlled to allow each character to express a much wider range of emotions.

The rig works in tandem with an animation library, allowing me to save and reuse animations for future projects with a simple drag-and-drop. I've put together some GIFs to showcase the rig's controls and the results that it can achieve.

Looking ahead, I’m looking forward to incorporating the new character rig into some upcoming animation projects that are awaiting production outlines. I’m also hoping to dip my toes into the world of 3D animation through learning how to use Blender, as I think this could open some new and exciting creative possibilities.
