Non-Clinical Photography update – May
Can you believe we’re already heading into the end of May? Time is flying — and it’s been a productive month on the non-clinical photography front!
Huge thanks to everyone who’s contributed to the annual report photos so far — we’re nearly there! Just one last push to gather a few more shots so the design team has everything they need to wrap up the document. Touch base with Nazia and Lex to find out which areas still need coverage, and don’t forget to update the seniors so we can sort out clinical cover while you’re out on shoots.
Special shoutout to Eli for covering International Nurses Day on May 12th — the images captured the energy and joy of the celebration perfectly (and somehow even made the marquee look tidy!). Amazing work, Eli.
And a big thank you to Nazia, who took on the offsite job at the 22nd National Post ASH Update Educational Seminar for the British Society for Haematology — positive and professional feedback on the photos, and a job very well done!
Thanks again for all the energy, creativity, and teamwork — keep it up, and see you in the next edition!
Video update – May
It’s been an incredible month for all things video! Lex and I headed down to the MPTS 2025 at the iconic Olympia Grand Hall in London. We caught some great talks from Blackmagic Design — including a deep dive into their brand-new Pyxis 6K Cine Camera (which we now have in the department!) and a session on livestreaming with the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO G2. We’re currently testing the smaller version in-house to see how it slots into our workflows.
If you’re curious about any of the new kit or want to geek out about the Blackmagic workflow, come find me — I’m always up for a chat!
On the project side, Lex has been working closely with the Cardiac Rehabilitation team on a video for a clinical trial they’re submitting for funding. Once it’s signed off, I’ll be sharing it with you all — keep an eye out in the next edition!
We also just wrapped filming on our other big project this month: Commode Cleaning. Let’s just say… it wasn’t a sh*t show. Shot on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K, we’ve turned a basic training video into something that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Christopher Nolan film!
Next month is looking busy with even more projects rolling out — it’s been a month of meetings and edits, but all that groundwork means plenty of new content is on the horizon. Can’t wait to show you more!
Animation update - May
This month, Mark L, Chets, Lex, and Tom dived into the world of After Effects with a hands-on introductory course. From learning how to navigate the interface and manage files, to understanding keyframes and exporting for clients, the team’s now ready to take on some of the lighter animation tasks.
We’ve already put those skills to good use — the Long Service Awards opening video, previously handled in Final Cut, has now been rebuilt in After Effects. This makes it easier for anyone in the team to jump in and make updates when needed.
Next up: advanced AE training! The team will be attending a two-day course next month to level up further, and I’ll keep you all posted on how it goes in the next edition.
Until then — stay creative and see you next month!
